While there is an atmosphere of panic among consumers regarding domestic gas (LPG) across the country and the state, the administration in Chhatarpur has started tightening the noose on black marketeers who are taking advantage of this crisis. A huge quantity of illegally stored gas cylinders have been recovered from the house of a retired teacher in Ward No. 3 Vishwanath Colony of the city.
Actually, the administration had received information that retired teacher Shyamlal Ahirwar, resident of Vishwanath Colony, had stored a large number of cylinders in his house. As soon as the information was received, the Tehsildar and the Food Department team along with the City Kotwali Police raided the house late in the night.
Details of seized cylinders
Naib Tehsildar Shashank Jain said that during the search, a total of 25 domestic gas cylinders were recovered from inside the house. Of these, 3 cylinders were completely filled with gas and 22 cylinders were found empty.

The administrative team has seized all the cylinders on the spot. It is feared that these cylinders were to be used for black marketing in the market at high prices. The team of Food Department and Revenue Department has registered a case against the retired teacher under the Essential Commodities Act and started further legal action.
