“Just show up and don’t give up” is just not a mantra to inspire or motivate, but is the motto which drove veteran financial services executive Shyam Srinivasan through his leadership journey at major banks, including Standard Chartered, Federal Bank and Citi.

The former banker has captured these life and leadership lessons in his book better never stops, a part memoir and part leadership guide.

The book, launched at an event organised by the Madras Management Association here on Thursday traces Srinivasan’s journey, reflecting on the experiences and values that shaped his leadership approach over the years. 

Cricket latest Persistence & Consistency

Speaking at the event, Srinivasan emphasised on the need for persistence and consistency in achieving success. Drawing from anecdotes of playing cricket as a young boy and the years he spent leading large banks, he highlighted how setbacks and difficult phases often become defining moments in leadership journeys.

The event also saw the presence of former Indian cricket captain captain Kapil Dev who highlighted the importance of storytellers in bringing inspiring real-life experiences closer to the public.

The launch also saw a panel discussion featuring business leaders Gopal Srinivasan, Chairman, TVS Capital Funds, TT Srinivasaraghavan, Director, Sundaram Finance, K Mahalingam, Partner, TS Mahalingam & Sons, and Mithun Sacheti, Founder of CaratLane, who shared perspectives on leadership, institution building.
