The video has gone viral on social media, with users claiming that it captured the final moments of a group caught in the devastating Nepal floods. India Today could not independently verify the authenticity, location of the footage, or the claims accompanying it.
The clip begins with several men watching the rapidly swelling torrent from a patch of vegetation near the flood channel. As the water closes in, panic sets in, and they appear to rush towards safety.
The camera then swings wildly through leaves, briefly captures some of the men and eventually points towards the rocky ground. It continues recording through the chaos, even after the group disappears from view.
The footage does not clearly show the men being swept away. Social media posts, however, claim that the phone was later recovered from the flood-hit site and that the man who recorded the footage, along with the others seen in it, died. There has been no official confirmation of their identities or fate.
