The Asian Games 2026 will officially come to a close on October 4 (Sunday), with the closing ceremony taking place at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Japan. The ceremony will officially begin at 2:30 PM IST. India had a fairly successful campaign, barring the underperformance of a few disciplines. They won 85 medals, comprising 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze. This is India’s second-most successful Asian Games campaign after the Hangzhou edition in 2022. Neeru Dhanda will be India’s flag bearer in the closing ceremony. The trap shooter won three medals this time around, with two golds. She won an individual trap gold, a silver as part of the women’s trap team alongside Manisha Keer and Aashima Ahlawat, and another medal with Kynan Chenai as part of the mixed team. She is the first Indian woman to win an individual trap gold at the Asian Games.

Japanese dance performance and finally it’s over Followed by some singing! Performers are still dancing though. Loud, melodious and charming. Great singing and great performance. One has to say, it’s been a great closing ceremony. Some more singing and dancing follows. But this one seems very traditional. The singer is attired in a traditional Japanese way. So, the final act is over. With that things really come to a close. See you again in 2030. Just a reminder, India finished fourth with 85 medals.

Qatar’s anthem underway There is a Qatari singer singing beautifully with the Qatari flag flying pretty close to her. Short performance but it was great. Full of passion. There is an AV being played now, talking about the next Games in Doha. A Qatari sports legend is waving the Olympic Council of Asia flag on the stage. He is a former Olympic champion. He hands it over to a horse rider. The flag is now flying and covering distance in the air on its way to Qatar. Dramatic and beautiful. The AV comes to a close now. The big torch finally put out.
