Brilliant festival cancelled
Sydney’s annual Vibrant celebration has been cancelled in an effort to assist stop the spread of coronavirus. Going to the health club, movie theater using public transportation ‘fine’
Following recommendations by the Federal government to restrict gatherings to less than 500 people, the NSW Federal government announced this morning it would cancel the celebration.
The event was arranged to go ahead from late Might to early June.
Last year a record 2.4 million people attended Vivid, which sees Sydney’s Circular Quay and the Opera House illuminated. It also draws in worldwide artists in music, arts and theatre.
In a statement, NSW Tourism Minister Stuart Ayres stated the decision was not ignored but, as the event owner, the Federal government needed to act upon guidance from health officials.
” There will be some costs that the federal government will not be able to recover however we’ve made this choice early to attempt and lower those,” Mr Ayres said.
