The Governments of New South Wales, Victoria and the ACT will continue to a more detailed shutdown of non-essential services over the next 48 hours in an attempt to slow the spread of coronavirus.

Bottom line:

  • The shutdowns in Victoria and NSW will not effect grocery stores, drug stores and banks
  • Victoria will bring forward school holidays to begin on Tuesday
  • The Federal government will also think about locking down COVID-19 “red zones”, as has been done in Wuhan and parts of Europe

Supermarkets, gas stations, pharmacies, convenience stores, freight and logistics, and house delivery will be among the numerous services that will remain open.

Schools in all 3 states will remain open on Monday, but in Victoria school vacations will be advanced to start on Tuesday.

Victoria and NSW were preparing to push for lockdowns at tonight’s National Cabinet conference, however NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews explained that their states would be pursuing these more extreme steps.
