Friday’s skirmishes led to the snapping of mobile web services in Kupwara for numerous hours.

Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown, heavy exchange of fire in between India and Pakistan on Friday forced scores of villagers living along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara to shift their households, particularly the females, to safer areas.

Nazir Ahmad Khatana, a citizen of Panzgam, said he needed to shift his household to Kupwara town after artillery and bullets shook his town since Friday morning. “A number of our houses established fractures and window panes broke. Females, the old and children were scared and we decided to shift them,” said Mr. Khatana, whose town Panzgam is 20 km away from the district headquarters.
