NEW DELHI: Equity indices surged on Friday with the benchmark BSE sensex rising more than 1,050 points on stimulus hopes ahead of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) briefing. Sensex jumped 1,073 points to 31,676 in opening trade; while the broader NSE Nifty traded above the 9,300-mark.
Top gainers in the sensex pack included TCS, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC, Bajaj Finance and IndusInd Bank with their shares rising as much as 6.61 per cent. On NSE, sub-indice Nifty Private Bank and Media gained as much as 4.88 per cent
