France testing whether nicotine might avoid coronavirus

Nicotine could safeguard individuals from contracting the coronavirus, according to new research in France, where additional trials are planned to evaluate whether the compound could be used to avoid or deal with the deadly disease.

The findings come after researchers at a top Paris medical facility examined 343 coronavirus clients along with 139 people contaminated with the disease with milder symptoms.

They found that a low number of them smoked, compared to smoking rates of around 35 percent in France’s basic population.
