No mask, no service.

Larimer County’s health department released Sunday a public health order requiring all staff members and consumers to wear face coverings when getting in and inside companies within the county to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The requirement isn’t completely brand-new, as Larimer County health officials had already released guidelines requiring masks for customers and employees at services resuming under safer-at-home However those requirements didn’t include essential services, which were already open during the stay-at-home order, and they weren’t a formal public health order, health department spokesperson Katie O’Donnell said Sunday.

O’Donnell wrote in an e-mail to the Coloradoan that Larimer County Public Health is “hearing that individuals are declining to go into services that need face coverings.”

” We wished to ensure that those that were following the guidance and taking this seriously were not unjustly retaliated versus,” O’Donnell wrote. “We hope making it a requirement like this will assist that.”

The general public health order applies to all staff members connecting with the public or other workers along with anybody over 2 years old entering or in line to get in an organisation.

Companies are specified as, but not limited to:

  • Schools
  • Leisure centers
  • Retail services
  • Production
  • Places of praise
  • Individual service facilities

The county repeated that those with underlying health conditions must continue to stay at house throughout safer-at-home due to their increased danger of contracting COVID-19

The public health order follows Fort Collins City Supervisor Darin Atteberry’s emergency order requiring face coverings in Fort Collins structures available to the general public. Atteberry’s order, signed Friday after it was talked about and unanimously supported by members in last week’s City board meeting, goes into result Monday.

Nevertheless, the county’s public health order is more stringent than Atteberry’s order in some ways– Atteberry’s order, for instance, excuses anybody under the age of 10 years old, whereas the county’s order applies to anybody over the age of 2.

Tracking Coronavirus in Colorado: The latest confirmed cases, updates

Local municipalities do have the authority to provide more rigorous face covering requirements than the county, according to Sunday’s press release, and O’Donnell said homeowners need to follow whichever requirements are more strict.

” Our businesses have done an excellent task keeping their employees in face coverings to secure customers,” Larimer County’s public health director Tom Gonzales stated in the release. “But we require our clients to likewise be securing the employees. Face coverings are not perfect, however paired with social distancing, we understand they slow the spread of COVID-19”
