” Bharat and India are both names given in the Constitution. India is currently called ‘Bharat’ in the Constitution”, sayds CJI.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday bought that a plea to alter India’s name exclusively to ‘Bharat’ be converted into a representation and forwarded to the Union federal government for an appropriate choice.

” Bharat and India are both names provided in the Constitution. India is already called ‘Bharat’ in the Constitution”, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad A. Bobde orally said in a virtual court hearing.
