Accepting JOMO and Notes from the Weekend

Yes, I are among those people who celebrates her “birthday weekend,” and the last few days I have actually let myself listen to my body and do– well, pretty much whatever I seemed like doing. And staying off my phone as much as possible. Needed a work break? I powered down my computer system and got outside. Tired? Propped my feet up on the sofa. Felt starving? Consumed a tasty snack– in this case, cold watermelon sprinkled with sea salt, feta, and fresh basil. This frame of mind of listening to my body and choosing my gut is something I wish to bring with me into this new year of life. As somebody who can be disciplined to a fault, I need to be really deliberate about not letting my own self-imposed structure obstruct of delighting in life and living it to the max.
One of my preferred things about my mother is that she’ll periodically have dessert for supper. Not because it’s healthy, not due to the fact that she’s starved herself all day, but even if she wants to. Because every occasionally, a banana split for dinner makes her really, really happy.
