It’s his first significant campaign rally given that the coronavirus pandemic swept across America, and comes in the middle of an unprecedented moment of demonstration against racial oppression in the wake of the killing of George Floyd.

So about that crowd size …
Hello, do you think the low crowd numbers is a reflection of people stressed over their health or a sign that Trump is on the way out? Too tough to think maybe.
– Debbie
I thought the Trumpers stated 1million tickets had actually been offered
– Rowena
So I talked to a lady at a serene counter-demonstration today, Elle Roots, who informed me she asked for tickets with the intent not to attend.
” I believed it would annoy him,” she said. “I likewise believe that the less people who are there– hopefully the more distanced they can be. If they won’t listen to the professionals, then at least we can do this.”
We’re hearing many reports that Elle was not the only one who did this …
Here’s what the Trump campaign is concentrating on.
We do not understand the final numbers yet, and it was too spread for me to offer a solid quote. However we’ll let you know what we hear.

There’s a crowd of protesters circling around the streets
They’ve marched past my window 3 times now, and I’m going to approximate there has to do with a thousand people. They’re shouting ” Black Lives Matter” and “No Justice, No Peace” and carrying all sorts of anti-Trump gear, including substantial puppets.
I can hear honking and sirens, however they have not stopped chanting so I presume they’re not encountering those who are now leaving the Trump rally.
We’ll watch on it. This is the most significant anti-Trump group I’ve seen today.

Those testing comments are the talk of the town
Here they are in complete:
” When you do evaluating to that level you’re going to find more people,” Mr Trump said.
” You’re going to discover more cases, so I stated to my individuals, ‘Slow the screening down please.’
” They test and they test and we got tests– people don’t understand what’s going on. We got tests, ‘We got another one over here.'”
” I saved numerous thousands of lives.”
It’s probably the important things most media are chattering about in the immediate aftermath. It’ll be fascinating to see how it plays in the coming days.

A few highlights from this speech
At one point during his story about the ramp, Trump said “I have excellent speeches and bad speeches. Far tonight, I’m average. I’ll be sincere with you.”
Trump’s fans enjoy when he plays with incorrect modesty, however I believe “typical” may be a precise way to explain this speech.
Don’t get me wrong– the setting and timing and debate around this rally make it a standout. But as for the contents of his speech, absolutely nothing truly stuck out in the ways that made his 2016 rallies so famous. The lines that may anger those outdoors his base were mainly recycled.
To my ear, he invested the most time talking about:
- His ramp story, with a hearty dose of humour included ( much to the pleasure of his fans)
- The Black Lives Matter protests, however focused more on the Defund the Authorities motion and Seattle’s “autonomous zone”
- Coronavirus, though this was spread throughout
- His opponents (specifically Nancy Pelos
