2 elite US universities are suing immigration services over a choice to withdraw visas from foreign students whose courses move completely online.
Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Innovation submitted the lawsuit versus Homeland Security and Migration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Harvard President Lawrence Bacow stated the visa move’s “ruthlessness [is] surpassed only by its recklessness”.
Many colleges are moving courses online amid the coronavirus break out.
Harvard had on Monday announced it would hold all classes online for the fall term, with just 40%of undergrads housed on school.
The decision from ICE, the federal police within Homeland Security, came quickly after that, saying students could face deportation unless they changed to an organization with in-person tuition.
