Vikas Dubey
was on Thursday arrested by police from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
Vikas Dubey was going to Ujjain Mahakal temple when he was identified by security personnel. Police were informed, he confessed his identity after being pushed for it. He has been apprehended by police and interrogation is underway, Ujjain collector Ashish Singh was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
According to reports, Vikas reached the temple around 8 am and then informed the security men about his identity and asked them to inform the police.
According to agency reports, the temple officials admitted, on condition of anonymity, that Vikas Dubey disclosed his name at the counter where he was giving money for donation and then asked them to inform the police.
Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra said the police was alerted by the intelligence agencies. A video clip showed Dubey being held by the scruff of his collar by the police, shouting, “Haan main Vikas Dubey hoon Kanpur wala (Yes I am the Vikas Dubey from Kanpur)”.
Dubey apparently did not use any disguise to evade police and neither did he have any arms as weapons are prohibited inside
