The Victorian Government has raised extreme coronavirus lockdown constraints from 2 inner Melbourne public housing towers, while another six will join them from midnight tonight.

Because Saturday afternoon, nine towers– house to about 3,000 citizens in 1,345 units across Flemington and North Melbourne– have remained in lockdown after tenants contracted the virus.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews informed press reporters Thursday evening that eight out of the 9 towers would be allowed to go back to phase 3 limitations from midnight tomorrow.
Locals of 33 Alfred Street, North Melbourne will need to quarantine for another 9 days due to the high concentration of cases in the structure.

What are the latest case numbers?
A total of 2,515 tests have been carried out, with 159 tests returning favorable across the 9 towers.
Mr Andrews said “3 groups” emerged from the testing that has been done so far.
The tower with the most cases is 33 Alfred Street, North Melbourne, which has 55 active cases.
Six other towers taped low levels of coronavirus cases, while there were zero cases detected in 2 other North Melbourne estates at 9 Pampas Street and 159 Melrose Street.
