25 more people pass away in Valley due to COVID-19

Nineteen more Hidalgo County citizens died due to COVID-19 and an extra 393 cases of the disease were confirmed, county officials reported Friday.

Amongst those who died were citizens of Objective, San Juan, McAllen, Edinburg, Pharr and Alamo. A number of remained in their 70 s, two were in their 30 s and one in their 40 s.

” Every day we are losing more of our fellow county residents to this lethal infection,” Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez specified in the release. “I send my inmost acknowledgements to the households of these victims. Please keep in mind to take individual obligation for you and household by continuing to utilize proper hygiene, social distancing, and, most notably, wearing a mask.”

Of the county’s total number of 7,727 favorable cases, 4,696 are active.

Currently, there are 798 COVID hospitalizations in the county and 198 of those clients remain in an intensive care unit.

Cameron County health officials reported six COVID-19 associated deaths on Friday, bringing their death toll to 77.
