NEP advises home language/mother tongue/local language or local language in main classes.
With the new National Education Policy (NEP) being authorized by the Union Cabinet, the dispute around the medium of direction in main classes has when again emerged in Karnataka. The NEP suggests medium of direction to be in the house language/mother tongue/local language or regional language in primary classes.
The NEP states: “Wherever possible, the medium of direction till grade 5, and ideally till grade 8 and beyond, will be the house language/mother tongue/local language or regional language.”
