In a night filled with many bold claims made by President Trump, one stood apart to immunologists: Trump’s statement, during the Thursday night debate with Joe Biden, that he had been “treated” of COVID-19.

Some individuals could say it was a remedy. And now they state I’m immune. Whether it’s 4 months or a lifetime, nobody’s been able to state that, but I’m immune.”.

The only problem? Immunity does not work that method, professionals say. And there are other reasons to take Trump’s remarks with a grain of salt, too.

Indeed, only a handful of clients outside of scientific trials have actually gotten Regeneron’s monoclonal antibody.”.

Concerning Trump’s claim of being immune, he was skeptical that he could even understand that. “As a new disease, our understanding of the body’s immune action to Covid-19 is limited,” Medford stated.

Dr. Alfred Sommer, dean emeritus and teacher of public health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, told Salon that while he does not believe there was anything incorrect about Trump’s aforementioned statement, “he was very lucky, and get
