Today, BJP has called for a 12-hour strike in protest against the Kolkata rape-murder. For this, Kolkata Police has made all security arrangements. A large number of police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order during the strike. Apart from these, security has been increased at several important places by identifying them. Officers up to the rank of Deputy Commissioner have been put on duty.

- A total of 5,000 policemen will be on duty across the city.
- The deployment will be monitored by 15 deputy commissioner (DCP) rank officers, each of whom will be responsible for security management at key locations.
- 5 Joint Commissioners will oversee the security, so that any possible incident can be dealt with as quickly as possible.
- An Additional Commissioner of Police (CP) will be in charge of law and order across the city, who will effectively monitor the operations.
- The entire city will be monitored through CCTV and for this a monitoring centre has been set up at the Joint CP (headquarters). During this, drones will be used for aerial surveillance.

Teams will be on standby during the strike
During the strike, 49 PCR vans will patrol the city from 5 am to 9 pm to respond to any incident in various areas immediately. Special forces like Rapid Action Force (RAF), Quick Response Team (QRT) and Heavy Radio Flying Squad (HRFS) will be on standby, ready for immediate deployment if needed.
Police ambulances will also be deployed to provide immediate medical assistance if needed during the strike. Kolkata Police has created some routes where people have been asked to be ready to face any trouble.
