It has come to light that the police have detained more than 60 people on charges of violence and arson. At the same time, the police is also interrogating them. According to the information, this demonstration was being held in Mahkoni village of Girodpuri a few days ago demanding a CBI inquiry into the cutting of the Jaitkham of Saint Amardas’ Tapobhoomi. In protest against this, a large number of people of Satnami community reached Baloda Bazar on Monday, where they surrounded the Collectorate and protested fiercely. On Monday, people of Chhattisgarh Satnami Samaj had gathered at Dussehra ground in Baloda Bazar. The number of protesters was 7 to 8 thousand who had gathered there from all over the state. Later, the prominent people involved in the protest were advised to submit a memorandum at Garden Chowk, but they rejected this advice. At 02.45 pm, the crowd that had come to protest moved forward in the form of a rally raising slogans.

The first barricade was erected near Garden Chowk, where they broke the barricade and moved ahead. After this, the entire rally, leaderless and shouting slogans in a planned manner, reached near Chakrapani School, where a big barricade was erected and they pushed and shoved the police officers and staff deployed on duty, beat them with sticks and seriously injured them and broke the barricade. From there, the protesters proceeded forward pelting stones.

The police tried hard to stop them, but the crowd turned violent and climbed on the fire brigade parked nearby and broke it. They set it on fire using the petrol and diesel they had brought with them and moved ahead. Near the Joint Collectorate Office, the rioters turned violent and pelted stones and beat up police officers and employees with sticks and injured them. They vandalised and set fire to about 100 government and private motorcycles and more than 30 four-wheelers parked in the Collectorate premises.

The rioters also set fire to the joint office building of the police office, burning down the records of the police office. After setting fire to the joint office building, they vandalised and damaged the vehicles parked in the tehsil office and the divider on the main road of the city. The CCTV cameras installed on the city roads to monitor the city were broken.
