The results of Bihar elections are going to have an impact on Rashtriya Janata Dal at many levels. In this election, RJD had fielded its candidates on maximum 143 seats. Out of these 143 seats, the party could win only 25 seats. The result of this could be that for the first time in three decades it will happen that by 2030 there will not be a single MP of Rashtriya Janata Dal left in the Rajya Sabha.

When Bihar Assembly elections are held in 2030, due to less MLAs of RJD, there will not be a single MP from Rashtriya Janata Dal in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the country. Even if Owaisi’s party AIMIM supports RJD, it will still be difficult for RJD to send its MP to the Upper House.

However, this time in Bihar, RJD and AIMIM have contested elections separately and both have defeated each other’s candidates on many seats.

5 MPs of Rashtriya Janata Dal are currently in Rajya Sabha. According to the report of Times of India, as the terms of these MPs complete, RJD’s presence in the Rajya Sabha will decrease. According to the report, when elections will be held for the vacant seats in Rajya Sabha in 2026 and 2028, it will not be easy for RJD to win the seat despite the support of AIMIM which got 5 seats in this assembly elections.

If AIMIM supports RJD in the 2030 Rajya Sabha elections, then Lalu Yadav’s party can somehow save one seat. But its possibility seems less. Because during Rajya Sabha elections, small parties vote according to the political convenience of that time, equations and their own benefits.

Of the five Rashtriya Janata Party MPs currently in the Rajya Sabha, party leaders in the House Premchand Gupta and AD Singh will retire in April 2026. The third MP Fayaz Ahmed will retire in July 2028.

Whereas the two remaining MPs Manoj Kumar Jha and Sanjay Yadav will complete their tenure in April 2030.

If Rashtriya Janata Dal does not win so many MLAs in the assembly elections of any state before April 2030 that it can win at least one of its MPs in the Rajya Sabha, then after April 2030, RJD will not have a single MP left in the Rajya Sabha.

Voting will be held for 5 Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant from Bihar in 2026. In this, two seats are with JDU and one is with Rashtriya Lok Morcha. Both these parties are part of NDA. Now the balance of power in the new Bihar Assembly is such that NDA will win these five seats.

Similarly, 5 members of Rajya Sabha will retire in 2028. Of these, three will be from BJP, one from JDU and one from RJD. Then these five seats will also go to NDA’s account.
