NEW DELHI: India witnessed highest increase in single day count of new coronavirus cases and fatalities on Wednesday. As many as 3,900 new Covid-19 cases and 195 fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 46,433 and 1,568 deaths. Worldwide, the total number of cases stood at 3,583,055 with 251,537 deaths.

- As per health ministry, India’s recovery rate stood at 27.41 per cent. 1,020 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of those cured to 12,726.
- Starting May 7 the government will start evacuating 14,800 Indians stranded abroad for which it also released standard operating protocols on Tuesday.
- Passengers will be evacuated from 13 different countries by 64 flights and 14 warships in week 1 of the operation.
- The civil aviation ministry on Tuesday launched an online portal called GARUD to fast-track the conditional exemptions given to drones operated by government entities for coronavirus-related work like aerial surveillance, aerial photography and public announcements.
