Human Metapnumovirus (HMPV) cases in Gujarat have increased to eight. The latest case has come up from the dive area of ​​Ahmedabad city, where a four -year -old child was found infected with this virus. According to Municipal Corporation Medical Officer Bhawin Solanki, the child is currently admitted to a trust operated hospital and his condition is stable.

On January 28, he was admitted to the SGGVP Hospital after complaints of high fever and cough. The HMPV infection was confirmed in the test conducted on the same day.

Solanki said that six cases have been registered in Ahmedabad earlier, in which three patients were from other districts but came here for treatment. All six patients have been fully recovered and discharged from the hospital. A total of eight HMPV cases have been reported in Gujarat so far, out of which seven have been registered in Ahmedabad and one Sabarkantha district.
