In her recent interview, Mumtaz has talked about her marriage with husband Mayur Madhvani. They had an interfaith marriage. Mumtaz tells that despite being a Muslim, after marriage she has developed deep faith in Hindu Gods and Goddesses. She believes in Lord Krishna, Ganesha and Shiva.

Mumtaz said from Star’s Journey YouTube channel, ‘My most favorites are Lord Shankar and Krishna. I believe in both of these very deeply, even though I am a Muslim. Whenever I come down the stairs in the house, there is an idol of Lord Ganesha – it is my favourite. I bow my head at his feet. I also have great faith in Lord Shankar. Since childhood, I like good looking people, and I think he is the most handsome God. That’s why I like him so much. There are only these two Gods in whom I have special faith.
On her interfaith marriage, the actress said, ‘I believe in both religions. I have married a Hindu boy, my sister also married a Hindu. We both are very happy. My husband takes very good care of me. I don’t understand why people keep trying to divide Hindus and Muslims. I do not believe in any such division.
What did Mumtaz say about Muslims?
In this conversation, Mumtaz gave a big statement regarding Hindu-Muslim marriages. She said, ‘I always say that I married a Hindu, and so did my sister, and we both are very happy. Among Muslims, many men marry three-four times and then leave their wives. How does this make Muslims better than Hindus? A man should not marry three-four times already. I am a Muslim myself, and I say that this is wrong – keeping one wife and marrying another, then a third.
‘Have you ever wondered how positive women are in relationships? This is a relationship where every woman is positive. Leaving one person and marrying another, how is this right? Is this not a sin? In this matter I like Hindus better, they usually marry only once. Sometimes he does it twice, but he does not easily leave one person and go to another.
