Sheena Bora Murder Case: The Supreme Court on Monday sought response from the CBI on the petition of Indrani Mukherjee, accused in the Sheena Bora murder case. Indrani Mukherjee has challenged the Bombay High Court’s decision barring her from traveling abroad because she is accused of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora.
The issue of the travel ban came before the Supreme Court when on July 19, a special court approved Mukherjee’s plea to visit Spain and the United Kingdom for 10 days in the next three months. CBI had approached the High Court challenging the order passed by the special court. On which the High Court had canceled the order of the special court on 27 September.
Indrani Mukherjee approached the Supreme Court challenging this order of the High Court. A bench of Justices MM Sundaresh and Arvind Kumar issued notice to the agency and sought its response on the appeal filed by Mukherjee against the High Court order.

In her plea, filed through advocate Sana Rais Khan, Indrani Mukherjee said she is a British citizen and has sought permission to make necessary changes and amendments in Spain and her country and to dispose of the pending work, which requires her personal presence. Cannot be done without.
According to PTI, Indrani Mukherjee argued in the court that activation of the digital certificate is mandatory for all relevant functions and administration in Spain and her physical presence is mandatory.
In its judgment, the High Court said that Indrani Mukherjee wanted to travel abroad on the grounds that she is a British citizen and was required to execute documents and perform other functions related to her bank account in Spain and the UK.
Rejecting the special court’s order, the high court said that if Indrani Mukherjee wanted to do these things from India, the statutory authorities in the home country would provide necessary assistance to her with the assistance of the embassies of Spain and the UK.
Let us tell you that Indrani Mukherjee was arrested in August 2015 after the case of Sheena Bora’s murder came to light. In May 2022, he was granted bail by the Supreme Court. He has denied the allegations. In April 2012, Bora (24) was allegedly strangled to death in their car by Mukherjee, her then driver Shyamvar Rai and ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna. According to the prosecution, Sheena’s body was burnt in a forest in the neighboring district of Raigarh.
Sheena Bora was Indrani Mukherjee’s daughter from her previous relationship. Sheena’s murder came to light in 2015 when Indrani’s driver Shyamvar Rai was arrested in a separate case registered under the Arms Act. Later, during police interrogation, he revealed about this murder.
Indrani Mukherjee’s former husband Peter Mukherjee was also arrested for being part of a conspiracy related to the murder, which was investigated by the CBI. But now all the accused in this murder case are currently out on bail.
