Many areas of the country including the capital Delhi are now witnessing severe cold along with fog. Due to fog, zero visibility was seen in many areas of Delhi on Friday and Saturday. In such a situation, road accidents become common. On Delhi roads or if you are traveling through extremely low visibility areas on the highways, here are five important precautionary measures you must take while driving in fog:
1. Reduce the speed of the vehicle: Drive at a much lower speed than usual. Fog reduces visibility. Whereas lower speed of your vehicle can save you from accidents or give you more time to react to changes in traffic.
2. Use low-beam headlights and fog lights: Turn on your low-beam headlights because high beam lights reflect off the fog, increasing glare and making visibility worse. If your car has fog lights, use them. Using parking lights can also prove to be very helpful in fog.

3. Maintain safe distance: Maintain more distance than usual from the vehicle moving in front. This will give you extra time to stop or turn. Driving at close distances due to fog reduces reaction time, which increases the risk of accidents.
4.Stay in your lane: hDo not change lanes or overtake unless necessary. Stay in the same lane and follow the white lines on the edge of the road, as these are more obvious than the center lines in fog.
