Sources say that he tried to change the government’s decision to leave the Rajya Sabha post and politics. Talking to Aaj Tak, Jawahar Sarkar said that I observed everything like a disciplined MP for about a month and remained calm. I think a lot of mistakes are being made in handling the situation and it has become much more complicated now. I also tried to talk to the party leadership but things did not work out.

‘The disease of corruption has gripped Bengal’

Jawahar Sarkar said, ‘I am adamant on my principles. I am stepping down as Rajya Sabha MP but it does not mean that I am abandoning my principles. He said, ‘The disease of corruption has gripped Bengal and Bengal is not in a position to accept it. Please try to understand that the people of Bengal are unable to digest this amount of corruption. We had a conversation after the letter I wrote to the CM but that is personal.

Letter written to Mamta Banerjee

Jawahar Sarkar said in a letter to Mamata Banerjee that it was hopeful that she would immediately take some strict action regarding the brutality in RG Kar Hospital. She will take action on this like old Mamta Banerjee. But he did not take any concrete steps immediately. It was too late to even take action. He expressed hope that peace should be restored in the state soon and the culprits should be given strict punishment.

He said, ‘I am hurt after the horrific incident at RG Kar Hospital and was expecting your direct intervention with the agitating junior doctor in the old style of Mamata Banerjee. But this did not happen.’
