UPSC has released the admit card for Indian Forest Service (IFS) Mains Exam, this is the selection process.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the admit card for Indian Forest Service (IFS) Mains Exam. Candidates who have registered for this examination can download their admit card by visiting the official website of UPSC upsc.gov.in or upsconline.nic.in. To download the admit card, candidates will just need their roll number. In such a situation, let us know what is the selection process for IFS.

Indian Forest Service (IFS) Selection Process

There are three major stages for selection in the Indian Forest Service (IFS), which include preliminary examination, main examination and interview. Through these stages, the candidate’s overall ability, subject knowledge, and suitability for service are assessed. Let us inform you that the Commission had declared the UPSC IFS Preliminary Exam Result 2024 on July 1 and a written result along with the name was released on July 19.

1. Objective Type Paper (Preliminary Examination)
The preliminary examination is a qualifying examination consisting of two papers: General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II. The first paper is related to General Studies and the second paper is related to English ability. This exam will be objective type i.e. all questions are multiple choice. Candidates who pass the preliminary examination are eligible to appear in the main examination.

2. Mains Examination
The main examination consists of a written examination, which consists of nine papers. These papers will include General English, General Studies, and subject-specific papers like Forestry, Agriculture, Zoology, Botany etc. The objective of the main examination is to evaluate the candidate’s deep understanding, analytical ability, and subject knowledge. After passing the main examination, the candidate is called for interview (personality test).

3. Interview (Personality Test)
This is the last stage, in which the personality of the candidate is examined. It is conducted by an expert board to assess the candidate’s suitability for service, decision making ability, social and mental ability. In the interview, the candidate will be asked questions on various subjects, through which his thinking and intellectual ability will be tested.

Candidates who are successful in these three stages are finally selected for the Indian Forest Service (IFS). During the entire selection process, the mental, physical, and intellectual abilities of the candidates are thoroughly evaluated to ensure that they are fully qualified for Forest Service duties.
