Why did Udit Raj appeal to BSP leaders to join Congress?

Udit Raj urged BSP workers to join Congress after Akash Anand was removed. Taking a dig at Mayawati, he said, her (Mayawati) party is falling down from her works. There is no mission left for Dalits or OBCs in BSP.

In fact, BSP supremo Mayawati on Sunday removed her nephew Akash Anand from all the posts of the party. His father and party general secretary Anand Kumar and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Ji Gautam have been made the National Co-ordinator of BSP in place of Akash Anand. On a few hours of this development, Congress leader Udit Raj appealed to BSP workers to join the Congress.

In a statement on Sunday, Udit Raj criticized Mayawati and claimed that her party was falling down due to her works. He said, ‘Mayawati is ending her party and there is no mission left for Dalits or OBCs in BSP.’

Earlier, Udit Raj also made controversial remarks in BSP supremo at a press conference on 17 February. He described Mayawati as an enemy of social justice and said that today our Krishna has told me who is his enemy, who is the enemy of social justice, first kill him. I have written in the press release, he is only Mayawati, who strangled the social movement. Now the time has come to strangle them.

He reiterated his stance and said, ‘I said on February 17 that Mayawati is strangling the Bahujan movement. Then I meant that society should recognize it and keep distance from them.

Raj also considered the threats he received after his previous comments and said, “I was threatened for that statement and a reward was also placed on my head.”

He further criticized for lack of clear mission in the BSP and said, “There is no fight in the BSP against the protecting the Constitution or against atrocities on Dalits and OBCs or against privatization.”

At the end of his comment, the Congress leader urged the BSP workers to leave the party and join the Congress. He said, ‘Those who were angry with me, now they should understand that my intention was to make them aware of the situation.’
