Cricket latest

Iceland Cricket has taken a sly dig at Pakistan cricket over claims that 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has AI chips in his bat, which have allowed him to smash the most dangerous bowlers in the game all over the ground with ease. The X account even jokingly requested the “AI chips” used in Sooryavanshi’s bat to help their struggling batters.

This comes after the wonderkid lit up the ongoing Indian Premier League with his swashbuckling hitting against some of the biggest names in world cricket. After already taking on the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins, all of whom he struck for a first-ball six, the young talent is now gunning for the Orange Cap ahead of veterans like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Heinrich Klaasen, and even Abhishek Sharma.

This prompted Pakistan cricket expert Nauman Niaz to humorously suggest that the youngster might be using an AI chip in his bat to generate power.

“Think about it. What is this kid? Get his bat checked. Like WADA conducts dope tests, send him to a lab. He probably used an AI chip in his bat. He is unreal. What a player,” Niaz said in a viral YouTube video. “When you’re 18, your body builds muscle, biceps, and triceps. This one is just 16. He was born when Virat Kohli was a world champion. He doesn’t have the power game as much as he has technique. He is a wristy player, plus if you look at his arc, he uses the full 360-degree range.”

In response, Iceland Cricket, known for its cheeky social media posts, asked for details of the AI chips being used by the prodigy, sparking a wave of trolling aimed at Pakistan cricket online. Some users even joked that Sooryavanshi’s “technology” might not be from this planet, while another suggested the chips came from the same place former Australian captain and current Punjab Kings coach Ricky Ponting supposedly got “spring” in his bat.

Sooryavanshi currently holds the Orange Cap after another sensational start for Rajasthan Royals against Punjab Kings on Tuesday, April 28. The southpaw smashed 43 off 16 balls before falling to a low full toss from Arshdeep Singh in the powerplay. RR went on to hand PBKS their first defeat of the season, moving up to third on the points table. Sooryavanshi has already become the fastest to reach 400 runs in an IPL season, scoring at a staggering strike rate of 238.10.

He will next be in action against Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Friday, May 1.
