HTC has a brand-new 5G phone but oh-boy-not-like-this, and more tech news today

1. HTC, no, why?

Former smart device giant HTC is back, with the Desire 20 Pro and U20 5G, two brand-new models that it hopes will revive its fortunes, revealed at an event in Taipei.

HTC is just launching these 2 new mid-range phones into its homebase of the Taiwanese market, in the meantime.

  • The HTC U20 5G, HTC’s first 5G model, will still be manufactured internal, and while it’ll be priced at NT$18,990(or about US$640), it does not scream flagship. The 6.8-inch screen packs the less incredible Snapdragon 765 G chipset, which is the same as the LG Velour, making its method to the US and Europe in the coming weeks
  • Likewise, that display is LCD, with a punch hole for the front cam, a rear fingerprint reader, and a big old chin, 5,000 mAh battery, and 48 MP quad-camera setup that looks average in regards to specifications.
