Married at First Sight UK has been a much awaited addition to the TV schedule, particularly since Love Island came to an end.

The hit Channel 4 show sees complete strangers tie the knot with partners they meet for the first time on their wedding day.

Already this year’s show has been leaving viewers gripped with a bride left “freaking out” after finding out her groom has four children and a groom realising his husband isn’t his type due to his blonde hair.

But this is just the beginning and viewers are promised plenty more drama as the series continues. Here, we take a look at the show’s biggest scandals from every series so far.

Ben and Stephanie’s radio dumping

Property millionaire Ben Jardine and police officer Stephanie were matched together in the third series.

When they finally met at the altar, even Ben’s sceptical parents couldn’t deny that there was immediate chemistry between the two.

But when Ben revealed he’d got another woman pregnant before his stint on Celebrity Big Brother in 2018, it all came crashing down. He also admitted he’d cheated on Stephanie before they went on their honeymoon.

To make matters worse, Stephanie said she found out they were getting divorced when he announced it to the public on a radio show.

Speaking on FuBar radio, he said: “It broke my heart to do what I had to do. I couldn’t give someone so lovely and so nice what she wanted.

“She was gutted to be totally honest and she still wanted to try, but it ain’t there, kiddo.”

Dad unimpressed by wife’s looks

In the 2019 series, Jack’s father was forced to make a grovelling public apology following comments about his son’s new bride Verity’s looks.

Viewers were not amused when Mark, a buyer on Dickinson’s Real Deal, ranted to his wife about how the marriage won’t last because he “knows his son”.

His wife replied: “Not everything is based on looks. I married you.”

Mark didn’t stop there and later told the camera: “What Jack normally goes for, it’s very, very different. It’s different to what I am used to for my son.”

Sliding into another wife’s DMs

Morag Crichton shocked her co-stars and viewers in last year’s series when she revealed Amy Christophers’ husband Josh Christie had slid into her DMs a year before filming.

She caused controversy when she announced it during a dinner party but at the same time, insisting she wasn’t telling Amy to “plant a seed” to make her paranoid.

Morag asked Amy if Josh had come clean to her, adding: “I genuinely feel like he messaged a lot of girls, I just happened to be one of them.”

Her revelation led to an explosive row between Amy and Josh, as he claimed he couldn’t remember ever messaging Morag and even went as far as accusing her of lying to cause trouble.

When Amy attempted to defend her husband after Morag suggested he was a “player”, she was shot down. Josh snapped: “Shut your mouth and let me fing speak.”

Hot-headed star axed from the show

It was reported that Nikita Jasmine was kicked off the series following an explosive rant at her fellow cast mates, which caused her to be dragged away by security.

She was paired with Ant Poole but cracks soon started to show as the pair headed to Mexico on their honeymoon.

The pair had an explosive fall out over Nikita continuously asking Ant if he fancied her, which she insisted was “banter”. During the fallout, Nikita said the experts had “done the opposite” of what she had asked for and threw an empty coffee cup at Ant.

She raged at Ant: “Shut the fup you fing bend; put me in a different room to him, I am not sitting with that knacker on holiday. Go and get your fing brows waxed and a sun bed you fing little divvy. Fing shut up, you fing freak.”

A source later claimed bosses were “left with no choice but to remove her from the show” after the situation escalated off-camera.

Going behind a spouse’s backs

Last year Bob Voysey was left devastated when he discovered wife Megan Wolfe had snogged Alexis Economou’s husband Jordon Mundell.

As Bob struggled to hold back his tears, Jordan revealed at the commitment ceremony: “I had my eyes on someone at the dinner party, then we got chatting back at the apartment.

“We’ve had a vibe and great conversation. We found ourselves alone at one point. One thing led to another and we shared a kiss, and I think it’s something I want to pursue.”

He added: “I came here to meet somebody – if I step on a few toes so be it. The real test now is to have a conversation and see where her head’s at.”
