A major controversy has erupted over the newly constructed bus stand at Chitrakonda in Odisha’s Malkangiri district after visible cracks appeared on the concrete flooring of the facility even before the facility could be officially inaugurated, sources said on Friday.

According to local residents, large portions of the concrete surface inside the bus stand premises have already started cracking, raising concerns about the durability and safety of the structure.
Villagers and commuters have questioned the quality of materials used in the project and alleged that the construction was carried out without maintaining proper standards.
Residents further claimed that repair work is currently being undertaken by applying a layer of pitch over the damaged concrete in an apparent attempt to hide the cracks.
