The makers of Chhaava have released the highly anticipated look of Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai Bhonsale, wife of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. This comes shortly after unveiling Vicky Kaushal’s character as the Maratha king. While some fans praised Mandanna’s traditional Maharashtrian look, others were divided, suggesting that a Marathi actress would have been a more suitable choice for the role.

In the first look poster, Rashmika wears a stunning Maharashtrian Nauvari saree, complete with traditional jewellery, including a nose ring and a bold red bindi. The poster exudes her strength and elegance, hinting at the significant impact her character will have in the upcoming period drama. 

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava explores the fascinating history of the Maratha Empire, highlighting a pivotal chapter where Chhatrapati Sambhaji shared power with his wife, Empress Yesubai Bhonsale. During Sambhaji’s absences from the Maratha capital due to battles, Yesubai took charge, making key political decisions that shaped the empire. 

Sharing the poster on her Instagram handle, Rashmika wrote, “Behind every great king, there stands a queen of unmatched strength. Introducing @rashmika_mandanna as Maharani Yesubai – the pride of Swarajya. #ChhaavaTrailer Out Tomorrow!
