Geelong coach Chris Scott rejected suggestions he kept his powder dry and held back on tactical manoeuvring in his team’s gallant nine-point loss to the ladder-leading Fremantle tonight.
The Cats were widely expected to employ Oisin Mullin, who successfully tagged Gold Coast star Christian Petracca last week, and fellow Irishman Mark O’Connor in shutdown roles against the Dockers’ prime movers. But it didn’t eventuate, Geelong opting not to run a hard tag on any of Freo’s best players, instead deciding to attack head-to-head.
With his side missing some key names, Chris Scott had plenty to be optimistic about in their nine-point loss away to the Dockers in Perth. AFL Photos Scott said that decision had nothing to do with saving something different for the Dockers in a possible September meeting.
“We’re not that good that at this stage of the season [where] we would be holding back things because we know we’re going to get a chance against them again,” he said.
