United States TV host Jimmy Kimmel has apologised for utilizing cosmetics to impersonate black stars like Snoop Dogg, Oprah Winfrey and basketball player Karl Malone.
Kimmel said he had thought of his performances as “impersonations of celebrities and absolutely nothing more”.
But, recalling, he admitted they were “awkward” and described them as “senseless minutes”.
He said sorry “to those who were genuinely injured or angered by the cosmetics I used or the words I spoke”.
Kimmel fronts a late-night talk program on ABC and hosted the Oscars in 2017 and 2018.
He had been under pressure to resolve his past usage of blackface, specifically after fellow presenter Jimmy Fallon released a comparable apology last month
