The leader of the USS Theodore Roosevelt has been removed after stating the United States Navy was not doing enough to halt a coronavirus outbreak on board the warship.
In a letter, Capt Brett Crozier had prompted his superiors to act to avoid United States soldiers dying outside of wartime.
However acting US Navy Secretary Thomas Modly said the commander “exercised exceptionally poor judgement”.
At least 100 individuals aboard the vessel have been infected, reports say.
