Material:

  • Sabudana – 1 cup
  • Boiled potatoes – 2-3
  • Chopped cashews – 12-15
  • Chopped almonds – 6-8
  • Makhana – 1/2 cup
  • Roasted peanuts – 1/4 cup
  • Ghee – 1 tsp
  • Whole red chilli – 2
  • Curry leaves – 18-20 leaves
  • rock salt as per taste
  • Chopped coriander – a little
  • Chopped green chilli – 1 tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon

Method of making:

1. To make ‘Sago Khichdi’, first of all soak 1 cup of sago for one and a half hour. There should be enough water in it that the sago gets completely immersed in it.

2. Sabudana will absorb all the water and will swell. If all the water is not released from it then the sago will start sticking, hence keep in mind that all the water has dried while preparing it.

3. Now take a pan and heat ghee in it. After the ghee becomes slightly hot, add cashew nuts, almonds and makhana and fry them. When these three things become light golden brown, take them out of the pan and keep them aside.

4. Now once again add some ghee in the pan and after it gets heated, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chillies and red chillies. When the leaves stop crackling and get roasted a little, add sago, salt, chopped boiled potatoes and peanuts. Mix everything well on low flame.

6. After stirring, add cashew nuts, almonds and makhana. After frying it on medium flame, remove it from the gas.
