Kolkata incident: People switched off lights of their houses in protest, blackout in Raj Bhavan too
Hundreds of people took to the streets to protest against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor of RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The protesters had appealed to switch off the lights of the houses between 9-10 pm. During this time, Governor CV Anand Bose also extended his support to the protest by switching off the lights of Raj Bhavan.

Hundreds of people in Kolkata came out on the streets after switching off the lights of their houses and registered their protest against the rape-murder case of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital. The parents of the deceased doctor also participated in the demonstration. West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose also supported the protest by switching off the lights of Raj Bhavan and lighting candles.
Speaking to the media, the deceased doctor’s father said, “We have to go; what else can we do? Things are going too slow; we can’t afford it. We have a lot of questions, and we want to answer these questions to the police.” Will ask.” Protestors from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital protested by burning candles.

People switched off the lights of their homes in Kolkata
A large number of people also participated in the protest in Shyam Bazaar of Kolkata. Many people were seen lighting candles and some waving the tricolor. The protesters of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital also switched off the lights of their houses. BJP leaders Sunkant Majumdar and Agnimitra Paul also participated in the protest. The protesters had appealed to switch off the lights of their homes between 9-10 pm.
People expressed protest by doing street play
It is being told that the protesters performed street play in Jadavpur area as a symbolic form of protest. Doctors of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and AIIMS in Delhi also registered their protest by lighting candles. The body of the trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall of the hospital on the night of 9 August. Since then, continuous protests are taking place here.

Hospital principal also arrested
CBI has also arrested Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, on charges of financial mismanagement. Due to this heinous incident, the West Bengal Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed the ‘Aparajita Women and Children Bill (West Bengal Criminal Law and Amendment) 2024’. Strict provisions have been made in this bill against rape cases. According to the rules, a provision has been made to settle the case in 24 days.
