• General Christopher Musa, defence minister
ABUJA (SUNDIATA POST) – Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd), has assured citizens that despite the country’s mounting security and socio-economic challenges, the administration of President Bola Tinubu will overcome forces working against the nation’s unity and progress.
Speaking on Friday night at the 2026 edition of the “Special Abuja Power Touch” programme hosted by Pastor Matthew Morakinyo and Pastor Mary Morakinyo of God’s City International Church (GCIC), General Musa declared that no individual or group would be allowed to destroy Nigeria.
The event, themed “All-Round Settlement,” held at the Velodrome of the National Stadium, Abuja, drew a large congregation of worshippers, political leaders and senior military officers.
“We must unite against all enemies of Nigeria,” Musa said. “We have a President who is doing his best to keep Nigeria united and great. Let us remain steadfast in prayer for the unity and survival of our dear country.”
He added that while “so many evil people do not mean well for Nigeria,” he expressed confidence that divine intervention would ultimately frustrate their plans.
General Musa, who served as Nigeria’s 18th Chief of Defence Staff from June 23, 2023 to October 30, 2025, was nominated as Minister of Defence on December 4, 2025 by President Bola Tinubu. Reflecting on his journey, he attributed his rise and resilience to divine grace.
“This is the first time I am attending this wonderful programme,” he said, noting that he had been personally invited earlier in the day. “I want to state clearly that I am a child of God not just by mouth but by deed. My standing here could only have been by the mercy of God.”

He also acknowledged the presence of two retired Major Generals whom he described as his mentors in the Nigerian Army.
In his remarks, Pastor Matthew Morakinyo offered prayers for Nigeria and President Tinubu, declaring an end to insurgency and prophesying lasting stability across the country. Using the Defence Minister as a symbolic point of contact, he prayed for peace, national unity and a tranquil atmosphere before, during and after the 2027 general elections.
The programme featured spirited praise and worship, testimonies, devotional sessions and musical ministrations by gospel artistes including Steve Crown and Leke Gospel, as well as a special song presentation led by Pastor Mrs Mary Morakinyo.
