CBSE clarified on Rahul Gandhi’s allegations, said

The Central Board of Secondary Education has rejected the controversy and allegations of irregularities in awarding the contract of digital assessment (On-Screen Marking) for the board examinations this year to Hyderabad-based company Coempt EduTeck. CBSE has said that the entire process of awarding the contract has been completed in a transparent manner under the General Financial Rules (GFR).

This controversy came to light when Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi raised questions on the contract given to Coempt EduTeck for CBSE’s on-screen marking process. He asked why such a big responsibility was given to a company whose name was linked to the 2019 Telangana Board Exam controversy. He raised serious questions on the evaluation process of class 12th examination.

Rahul Gandhi said that Hyderabad-based company Coempt EduTeck has already been in the news in big examination controversies. Despite this, giving him the responsibility of digital evaluation raises many questions. However, CBSE issued an official statement calling these allegations false, misleading and not based on facts.

The Central Board of Secondary Education said that ‘Request for Proposal’ for digital assessment of 2026 board examinations was issued on August 28, 2025 on the Central Public Procurement Portal. The contract was awarded only to eligible bidders who met the prescribed standards. The selection process was completely transparent.

According to CBSE, the government procurement was completed as per the established rules. After this, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi immediately said on social media platform X that denial is not the answer. He wrote, “Why are the Education Minister and CBSE not able to answer the four simple questions asked by me? The future of 18.5 lakh students is in danger. They deserve to know the truth.

Actually, the entire controversy is related to the Telangana Intermediate Exam Result 2019 case. At that time, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) had given the contract to process the results of the state’s 11th and 12th board examinations to IT company Globarena Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

When the exam results were declared in April 2019, large-scale discrepancies were revealed. Thousands of bright students were declared failed by mistake. Many students were given zero marks in the subjects for which they appeared. In some cases, even the practical marks of the students were not recorded. After these irregularities, there was huge anger among students and parents.

The controversy grew so much that during that time there were reports of suicide of more than 20 students. After this, large scale protests took place across the state. The three-member government committee formed to investigate this matter had held both Globarena Technologies and the board responsible in its report. Serious flaws were pointed out in the implementation of the company’s result processing software.

Along with this, human data entry errors were also mentioned. Later Globarena Technologies changed its name to Coempt EduTeck. Even after this the company remained active in the education sector. Kept doing work related to digital assessment and examination management for various universities and examination institutions. It is against this background that Rahul Gandhi had raised questions against the company.

VSN Raju, CEO of Coempt EduTeck, has also rejected the allegations. He said that the company has proved its capability and won the contract on the basis of competitive bidding in both technical and financial stages. The company met all the eligibility standards and offered competitive rates. He said that the allegations being made against the company are political and misleading.
