Sai Kumar, a 17-year-old student injured in Delhi’s Amar Colony firing case, finally lost the battle of life. Sai, who was seriously injured in the firing on May 27, died in the hospital on Monday. Since the incident, he was on ventilator support and his condition remained critical. According to the police, Sai Kumar died around 11:45 am on Monday. Doctors had already told the family that the bullet was stuck in his brain and his condition was very critical. He was admitted to the hospital in a coma-like state for the last six days.
This incident took place on the evening of 27 May at a food shop located in Amar Colony area of south-east Delhi. Sai Kumar had gone there with his friend after giving his 12th class examination. During this time he had a dispute with some boys. The family alleges that three boys had commented on the girl present with them. When Sai opposed this the controversy escalated. It was told that the accused left from there, but returned after some time with weapons. After this he beat up Sai and shot him near his head.
Police investigation has also revealed that the dispute may have started due to touching or hitting the chair. However, the investigating agencies are investigating all aspects. After the incident, information was received at the police control room at around 7:50 pm. Sai was immediately taken to the hospital by his friends, where his treatment started. But despite all efforts his life could not be saved.

The case is now being investigated by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police. The police had earlier arrested a 16-year-old minor boy from Okhla area as the main accused. An automatic pistol was also recovered from him. Now another accused Jai Kumar has also been arrested in this case. According to the police, so far one minor has been detained and two people have been arrested. Other people involved in the incident are also being interrogated. Police say that a total of five boys were involved in the incident. During the investigation, two other accused have also been identified, whose age is said to be 17 and 18 years. Both are residents of Okhla and their criminal records have also come to light.
According to police sources, the arrested minor is the son of a property businessman. He is also suspected to be involved in another firing incident that took place in Kalkaji area last year. Investigation has also revealed that he used to roam around in Amar Colony area claiming himself to be a relative of a leader. Two months ago, a complaint was also filed against him for wrongly using the name of a leader. Sai Kumar was the only child of his parents. His father runs a laundry shop in Chittaranjan Park area of South Delhi, while his grandfather has another shop in South Extension.
Police arrested two in firing case
After his son’s death, Sai’s father Sunil Kumar has demanded strict action against the accused. He said that his son had only protested against the ill-treatment and he had to pay the price for it with his life. He said that the accused should be given the harshest punishment. After Sai’s death, the police is now preparing to add sections related to murder in this case. The crime branch is deeply investigating the entire incident and the role of all the accused.
