Mamta Banerjee’s important meeting cancelled, 60 out of 80 MLAs remained missing, party gave this reason

A big development came to light in the politics of West Bengal on Sunday. An important meeting of newly elected MLAs of Trinamool Congress was cancelled. Party chief Mamata Banerjee was to preside over this meeting, but three-fourths i.e. 60 out of 80 MLAs could not attend. This meeting was to be held at Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat residence in Kolkata.

TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh described the absence of MLAs as an emergency. He said that this situation arose after the attack on TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday and the alleged attack on party MP Kalyan Banerjee on Sunday. He said that many MLAs are busy handling the ground situation. That’s why he didn’t come.

He further said, “This meeting was already scheduled. But after the attacks on our leaders, our MLAs are protesting at the grassroots level, due to which the police has taken strict action against our workers.” The absent MLAs had already informed the legislative party and requested that the meeting be postponed for some time.

Kunal Ghosh said that in view of this reasonable request, the Trinamool Legislative Party has decided to cancel the meeting for the time being. However, he also told that by the scheduled time of 3 pm, about 20 MLAs had reached the meeting venue. According to sources, despite low attendance, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee talked to the MLAs present.

However, a formal meeting could not take place. TMC also indicated that the meeting will be held at a later date and all MLAs will be informed about it in time. Meanwhile, TMC has also prepared a new outline for its upcoming political programs. It has been decided to intensify the protests in the next 48 hours.

The TMC spokesperson said that party leaders have been asked to organize protest rallies on June 1 at the block level in rural areas and in municipal corporation wards in urban areas. The attacks on Abhishek Banerjee, Kalyan Banerjee and other workers will be condemned in these rallies. TMC MLA Beleghata has announced a one-day symbolic strike in Kolkata.

It will be led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday. This protest will be organized on Rani Rashmoni Road of Esplanade. The party says that this protest will be against the ongoing violence after the elections and the removal of hawkers through bulldozers in the state. TMC said that the next political programs will be announced from the stage of the protest on June 2.
