Canada announces ban on assault-style weapons

Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has presented a long-promised ban on assault-style weapons following the nation’s worst gun massacre in April.

New guidelines would make it prohibited to sell, transport, import or use 1,500 ranges of attack weapons.

The restriction is effective immediately but there will be a two-year amnesty period for obedient gun owners to comply.

Mr Trudeau likewise said he would introduce legislation, which has yet to pass, to offer a buy-back program.

Unlike the US, gun ownership is not preserved in Canada’s constitution, but weapon ownership is still popular, especially in rural parts of the country.

Mr Trudeau made a point of stating that a lot of weapon owners are obedient people, however argued that assault-weapons serve no advantageous purpose.

” These weapons were created for one function and one purpose just– only to kill the biggest amount of people in the fastest amount of time,” he stated in a press conference on Friday.
