WASHINGTON: China’s aggressive stance along the India-China border fits with the larger pattern of Chinese aggression in other parts of the world, US President Donald Trump has said, wading into the boundary row between New Delhi and Beijing.
Coming a day after he publicly expressed anger at China over its spreading the coronavirus and damaging the world economy, Trump’s remarks, attributed to him by his spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany, came on Wednesday even as US lawmakers moved to impose sanctions on Beijing for its crackdown on Hong Kong. Getting tough on China is one of the few things Republicans and Democrats have agreed on in recent days after weeks of Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden accusing each other of being soft on Beijing.
