NEW DELHI: Even as Karnataka relaxed restrictions and allowed limited business activity to restart in districts under green zones, several states and cities continued to report a high number of cases and deaths. As of Wednesday, India’s tally of Covid-19 cases reached 31,332 and death toll stood at 1,007, as per the Union ministry of health and family welfare.

Here is a look at the latest updates on the outbreak of coronavirus from various Indian cities —

CHANDIGARH

  • The district administration has allowed certain construction activities except in Covid-19 hotspots/containment zones.
  • Since the launch of colour coding system by central government on April 15, many districts in the state have moved to green zone while one has moved from orange to red, forcing the local administration to enforce more restrictions.
  • Two general physicians will hold online OPD with patients from civil hospital in Mohali from 10am to 1pm every Thursday — a telemedicine video consultation that is a part of nationwide eSanjeevani OPD project, said civil surgeon Dr Manjit Singh.

KOLKATA

  • The 4km stretch along Raja Dinendra Street — from Shyambazar to Rajabazar has become a cause for concern for the civic authorities after at least four Covid-19 positive cases were reported from the area.
  • MR Bangur Hospital has become the first government Covid facility to introduce virtual visiting hours for its patients. Since Monday, patients in isolation wards have been interacting with their families on video-calls.
