From Maharashtra to UP, states & UTs issue guidelines for Unlock 1.0

NEW DELHI: As the Centre eased restrictions across the country with Unlock 1.0, the state governments have come up with their own revised guidelines to contain the spread of the Covid-19.

The Union ministry of home affairs had on Saturday said ‘Unlock-1’ will be initiated in the country from June 8 under which the nationwide lockdown effectuated on March 25 will be relaxed to a great extent, including opening of shopping malls, restaurants and religious places, even as strict restrictions will remain in place till June 30 in containment zones.

Maharashtra

The Maharashtra government extended till June 30 the lockdown in the entire state, and announced easing of restrictions and phase-wise resumption of activities under the “Mission Begin Again”.

In phase 1, individual physical exercises will be permitted in open public spaces including beaches, playgrounds, gardens and promenades between 5am and 7pm.

From June 5, all markets, market areas and shops, except malls and market complexes, are allowed to function on odd-even basis from 9am to 5pm.

Movement of individuals will remain strictly prohibited between 9pm to 5am except for essential activities, according to the government.

Religious places and places of worship, hotels, restaurants, hospitality services, shopping malls, barber shops, spas, salons and beauty parlours will remain closed across the state.

The Maharashtra government also issued guidelines for its employees to avoid the spread of coronavirus infection after the government offices are being opened in a phased manner.

The government said that from June 8, all private offices can operate with up to 10% strength as per the requirement, with remaining persons working from home.

It also allowed intra-district bus services to function while inter-district bus services will not be permitted.

Uttar Pradesh

The Covid-19 lockdown will continue till June 30 in the state with religious places, hotels, restaurants and shopping malls to reopen from June 8, according to UP additional chief secretary (home), Awanish Awasthi.

All the government offices will operate with 100% workforce where staggered timings will be followed – 9am to 5pm, 10am to 6pm and 11am to 7 pm.

He further informed that the state buses will be allowed to operate on the condition that passengers will be allowed according to the seating capacity of the buses they travel in;
