Around 20-30 lakh employees, primarily contractual, could lose jobs in the Gurugram-Manesar-Bawal car belt due to plunge in need in the wake of COVID-19- caused lockdown, said Harbhajan Singh, chairman of Ease of Doing Organisation, CII, Haryana.
Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Singh, likewise previous director of Honda two-wheelers, said that the Gurugram-Manesar-Bawal vehicle belt, which employs around six million employees and is one of the auto-manufacturing hubs in the nation, is likely to bear the brunt of the lockdown.
