Bangladesh Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said that the only agenda of the Election Commission is to conduct independent, fair, transparent and reliable elections in the country. According to the government news agency BSS, Nasir Uddin said that we have only one agenda- to conduct fair and transparent elections according to the aspirations of 18 crore Bangladeshis. Apart from this, we have no other agenda.

The Chief Election Commissioner said this in a program organized on the occasion of the seventh National Voters’ Day. He said that voting is the right of the people, which we have achieved after a tough struggle. Now we are trying to strengthen this right and hold a beautiful and approved election. Nasir Uddin appealed to the voters to consider voting as their duty and play their role in ensuring independent and fair elections.

Consent is necessary in political parties

Nasir Uddin said that various opinions and differences between political parties are the beauty of democracy, but to make the election process successful, consensus between political parties is very important. Nasir Uddin said in gestures that even if anyone wins by rigging elections, but history shows that such victory does not last long. He made this comment in the context of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was evicted from power in August 2024 after winning the election four times in a row. After Hasina’s farewell, an interim government was formed under the leadership of Mohammad Yunus.
